N/A fly-in 2017

Northern Area Fly-in 22-23 July 2017

…………

A small team of club members from Pandas, Huddersfield, Keighley & Dewsbury organised this first event. The field was set out on the previous Friday, ready for an early start Saturday. Saturday dawned with torrential rain, makeshift rain attire was quickly made from two bin liners & a plastic carrier bag (see photo right).

Because Friday evening was a horse race event, we could not admit modellers in the park until 10 am, with flying starting at 12 noon. In the afternoon, the weather changed into glorious sunshine, & stayed that way until close of play at 5 pm. Sunday was another fine day up to 4.30, when the rain returned.

Despite the poor weather forecast for the weekend, we had 26 flyers booked in on Saturday, & 33 on Sunday, with as many again spectators from various clubs. They were so impressed, we had three of them join our club.
