PANDAS BMFA Centenary Year – World Record Attempt – Sunday 15th May 2022

Dear PANDAS Members,

I now have the details of what is required for us as a club, to take part in the BMFA Centenary year celebrations attempt to set a new world record.

https://100.bmfa.org/record

The plan is to get as many aircraft as we can, across the country, into the air at exactly 12.00pm on Sunday 15th May 2022.

The current record stands at 179 aircraft.

The basic requirements are that you have to have a nominated club coordinator (me) and they complete all the necessary paperwork (countersigned by a witness). I have to record the name, BMFA number & type of aircraft flown for anyone who takes part. The aircraft have to be in the air and flying at exactly 12.00pm for it to count.

It is no longer compulsory to video the flying but this is desirable if possible. We have a commercial camera drone operator in the club (Adrian Appleyard) and he has kindly offered to film our event.

To assist in the planning and give us an idea of the number of members who want to take part, it would be helpful if you could let us know by completing the short online form below (it only takes 10 seconds).

The plan will be to meet at the field at 11.00am on Sunday 15th May. We will then have a pre flight briefing and I will complete any paperwork I need to do. You can use any type of aircraft (fixed wing, helicopter, multi rotor or even a paper dart). The only criteria is that the aircraft must be in the air and flying at exactly 12.00pm for it to qualify.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to call or email me.
