The dedicated training day will therefore be cancelled this Wednesday.

BMFA Scale Event PANDAS Flying Site Sunday 2nd May 2021

The PANDAS flying site will be hosting a BMFA scale event on Sunday 2nd May 2021 (link below):

PANDAS members can enter the event free of charge.

PANDAS members are welcome to come and spectate (we need to know if you are coming for the covid track and trace calendar). Depending on numbers taking part in the event, there may be the possibility of some normal club flying during the day, but that is not guaranteed.

PANDAS Field Visits Covid Risk Assessment
There seems to be some confusion about the current Covid restrictions / guidelines when members visit the PANDAS flying field.

In brief, model flying from a legal perspective is classed as a sport. As such the field is classed as an outdoor sports facility. Under the current Covid legislation / guidelines subject to certain criteria, members can visit the field under the umbrella of an outdoor sports facility. To comply with this, we must have a number of measures in place including a Covid risk assessment (I have completed that). This in essence means that within reason, we are not restricted to the number of people who can be at the field.

Full details of what members must do are on the website (link below):

The calendar is not a booking system, it is to keep a record of any members who have visited the field should there be any track and trace enquiry later. The calendar entries are kept for 21 days and then deleted. It is helpful if members do let us know in advance if they are going to the field, but it can be done at the time or after the visit if anyone does forget.

There are no maximum or minimum numbers that can be at the field, the only stipulation is that we must comply with the rules / guidelines. This in effect means even if you are at the field on your own, the normal flight line flags and the Covid social distancing signs should be in place.

Club Meetings
We will continue to hold the monthly club meetings using the online ZOOM meeting platform, until it is safe and lawful to return to the Roundhill club meeting venue and hold the traditional face to face club meetings.

The next online club Zoom meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 4th May 2021 @ 7.30pm (link below):

Club Storage Cabin Painting

The club storage cabin is starting to look shabby. We have purchased some paint and will be looking for some help to get it painted in the next few weeks. I will circulate the details shortly. If you are available to help it would be greatly appreciated.

Future Events

We have several other events planned at the field over the next few months. We will require help at these events. If you can assist, please let us know. Click below for the details:
