The ‘Wakefield Armed Forces Day’ for this year is on Saturday 6th July 2019 (0900 to 1700).
It is held in Pontefract Race Course.
The club have traditionally supported this day and long may that continue, in recognition of all our Serving, Regular, Reservists, Veterans & Cadets, of all the Armed Forces Personnel.
I am looking to support the event for 2019, with at least a static display and hopefully accompanied with some flying, subject to being able to secure, a safe flying area (it is an event open to the public).
Wakefield Armed Forces Day will deliver a fantastic day out, and aims to provide a platform to properly recognise the contribution of Serving Personnel; Regulars and Reservists, Veterans and Cadets through their involvement as both participants and spectators. The event will include a flag raising ceremony attended by Veterans, Royal British Legion (with standards), Civic and Military dignitaries. The main event will include a variety of exciting displays with a wide variety of Military and Cadet stalls, Veterans associations, Military Charities and stands from Blue Light Services and local community agencies that provide essential support services to the local Armed Forces and Veteran’s community. There will be a variety of fun activities for children including themed stands such as climbing towers, military vehicles and bouncy castles to appeal to youths and children of all ages. To further attract the public there will be a K9 Display, Model Aircraft Displays, Falconry Display, Re-enactments, a WW2 display and a Spitfire flypast. A number of local Military units will be displaying their Military vehicles and equipment as well as a separate display of WW2 vehicles form the Military Vehicle Trust.
